The Charity Food Workgroup (CFWG) is a cross-sector workgroup formed in 2019 to better coordinate food support and comprises food charities, corporates, government agencies, volunteer groups and grassroots.
The Workgroup serves as a platform to exchange ideas and best practices on how to improve coordination of food support for families in need, enable more choices, and reduce food wastage. During the Circuit Breaker period, the Workgroup members rallied together to ensure the continuity of food support for those in need while safeguarding the health of staff and volunteers.
The FoodConnect Directory is a website where members of the public and any Social Service Agencies can conveniently search for food support that best meets the needs for those in need. You can access it here: https://foodconnect.gov.sg
The majority of food support is provided to those in need free of charge. However, there might be some organisations that charge a nominal fee based on their own internal guidelines.
The eligibility criteria for food support vary across organisations. Do check the organisation's official website or contact them directly to find out about their eligibility criteria. You may obtain contact information by going to https://foodconnect.gov.sg and clicking on “View Details” on an organisation's page.
There are many different food support organisations in Singapore that serves different types of food (e.g. cooked meals, food rations, vouchers etc). They may serve in different locations, or cater to different dietary preferences (e.g. halal, vegetarian).
To identify a suitable food support organisation, use the filters at the top of the FoodConnect Directory based on your needs. You can click on “View Details” to find out more about an organisation's food support programme, such as the frequency of food support, or the locations they serve.
If you would like to submit a request for food support, you can contact the organisation directly through their contact number, website or email address. To avoid food wastage, we recommend that you submit to one organisation at any one time.
The turnaround time varies for different food support organisations. We seek your patience as they might take some time to get back to you.
The FoodConnect Directory is a consolidated listing of all food support organisations in Singapore. Listing your organisation on the Directory will allow Members of Public and Social Service Agencies to search for food charities by region, type of food support, and frequency of food distribution more conveniently, instead of searching for each organisation individually.
We are always on the lookout to include more food support organisations on the Directory. If your organisation fulfills the following criteria, your organisation can be listed on the FoodConnect Directory:
Please fill in this online form: https://go.gov.sg/foodconnectdirectorylisting. We will contact you to confirm the details. Thank you!
Other than the Directory, the Charity Food Workgroup is also working on a FoodConnect Database, which will allow organisations to identify duplication in food support and allocate resources more efficiently. This reduces food wastage and allows families in need to receive the appropriate amount and type of food support.
No, the privacy of our clients is our utmost priority. Information in the database would only be accessible to authorised users in participating organisations. If your organisation is interested to participate in the Database, please register your interest at: https://go.gov.sg/foodconnectdatabaseinterest.
